Are personality tests just overrated? Do you need to take a personlity test to understand yourself better? Well, here are four reasons why you absolutely need to!

Learning about your personality can help you better understand other people.

Learning about your personality and that of others might give you a better understanding of all the different reactions and perceptions that other people might have to the same situations. We all have different ways of seeing and interacting with the world.

Identification of your likes and dislikes.

Maybe you have always wanted a little more time in taking decisions, preferred texting to calls or enjoyed certain subtle nuances that you cannot really fathom why, Learning more about where you lie on the extrovert/introvert scale would go a long way in aiding you to understand your thrives and instances that you would rather not find yourself.

Understanding situations that are ideal for you and those you would rather not find yourself.

Recognition of your strengths and weaknesses.

A good understanding of your personality and what you’re good at can rather prove handy in several situations. Especially in very important, life-defining situations, a good understanding of your strengths and weaknesses is an indispensable guide.

Today, we would be focusing on one type of personality: the INFJ. Read to find out if you fit exactly into it.

INFJ: The Advocate (introverted, intuitive, feeling, judging)

INFJ (introverted, intuitive, feeling and judging) is one of the 16 personality types identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Sometimes referred to as the “Advocate” or the “idealist”.

People with INFJ personalities are creative, gentle and caring. INFJs are usually reserved but highly sensitive to how others feel. They are typically idealistic, with high moral standards and a strong focus on the future.

INFJs enjoy thinking about deep topics and contemplating the meaning of life. The INFJ type is said to be one of the rarest with just one to three percent of the population exhibiting this personality type.

Other personality types as identified by MBTI include:

ISTJ – The Inspector ISTP – The Crafter
ISFJ – The Protector ISFP – The Artist INFP – The Mediator
INTJ – The Architect INTP – The Thinker
ESTP – The Persuader ESTJ – The Director
ESFP – The Performer ESFJ – The Caregiver
ENFP – The Champion ENFJ – The Giver
ENTP – The Debater ENTJ- The Commander

It is necessary for you to understand that as much as personality traits would give a good understanding of yourself, “THEY ARE NOT DOGMA”.

They should not be treated religiously; there should be room left for self-discovery. It is notable to add that knowledge and a thorough understanding of one’s personality is just a step in the long and unending journey of self-discovery and self-actualization.

Personality traits may serve as an extremely helpful guide on that journey; it is noteworthy that room should be left for errors.
